This month, we welcome wonderful news from the Taiwan Design Research Institute’s awards organisers that 4 of our projects have qualified for Secondary Selection. X2 Oceanphere, Caviar Café, Ahsa Farmstay, and Bank of Thailand Learning Center have all moved through to the next round. Our project entries showcase a broad range of opportunities afforded by an equally diverse group of clients and team who have all made this first participation at the awards possible.

Ekkachan Eiamananwattana has been invited to judge the AD Open House competition entries. Hosted by Walailak University, the annual competition is unique in its two categories; the Junior Designer category exclusively for high school and vocational certificate students, and the Senior Designer category opened to the public, high vocational certificate students and university students.
CC Director Puiphai Khunawat joined a panel of esteemed architects at Kasetsart University’s midterm review. The review was conducted via video conference, which has now become the norm. Students have been adjusting their presentation and honing their skills to suit the new medium, and there were inspiring designs all round.
Our 2021 internship programme has been going since March. Our interns have applied themselves to different tasks within the office, rotating between practical experience of real word projects and research modules. The group has been looking into the different characteristics of a handful of Bangkok Markets. We will be publishing a series of short articles on their findings over on WeChat.
Our ongoing Series project of 21 hospitals around the country has been shortlisted in the World Architecture Festival, Future projects category. The project’s shortlisting couldn’t have come at a better time. As the current pandemic rages on, the importance of practical affordable healthcare centres in remote regions has never been as acutely underscored.

CC Director, Ekkachan Eiamananwattana joined Mike Stiff of the London based practice Stiff+Trevillion who chaired the panel. The shortlist was varied and interesting. The judging event was coordinated online with a live event expected to take place in November.
Everyday café, a small project with a big heart. We’re excited the completion of one of our smallest undertaking. The project renovated the lower floors of a single shophouse with simple everyday objects done in a heart-warming way. We’re happy to report that the coffee tastes great and the everyday backyard is proving to be quite the photo spot.
It is a fine balance to strike between health and the environment, especially so with the recently imposed lockdown. Ordering food comes with a lot of plastic, so our crew has been practicing recycling at home. As we work from home, we encourage everyone to recycle as much as possible.
We have taken our Bangkok Design Week exhibition online. This exhibition was done together with the students from Silpakorn University and SoA+D King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi.

We would like to thank Luxury Design Awards for this prestigious recognition. We are delighted that Scope Promsri is the Winner of Luxury Lifestyle Awards 2021 in the category of ‘Best Luxury Architecture Residential Development’ in Thailand.
The new Park project for the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority is well underway. Our designed pavilions are slowly getting firm footings and will soon take their shape. Once complete, the project will join three major existing park and together form Bangkok’s largest park.

After breaking ground in Phitsanulok early this month. The Swensen’s project is gathering steam. Work is progressing fast with workers firing on all cylinders the project is well within schedule. We’re so excited to share this new development in Phitsanulok soon.
Puiphai Khunawat and Song Xiaoxing were invited to jury final year Thesis at Chulalongkorn University Architecture program and INDA first year’s programme respectively. Puiphai joined an all stars panel with 3 National Artists. Xiaoxing’s breath of experience working on regional projects brought a different perspective to the aspiring architects of the INDA programme.
We are delighted that Scope Promsri has been nominated for Best Luxury Architecture Residential Development in Thailand for 2021. Stay tuned for developments.
Ahsa Farmstay won the Commended Award for The Project with Appealing Aspects. We are very pleased with this recognition and especially at the jury’s comment “the project is a true benchmark of how to interpret vernacular forms in a modern context.”

Rising at a rapid pace, our new commercial project under construction at Siam employs steel frame and prefabricated floor panels. The building is designed to provide a new frontage to the street whilst not only maintaining but strengthening pre-existing connection routes with new pedestrian underpasses. The building forms an L shaped mass creating an inner court to be shared with the listed Sumet Jumsai designed classic block behind completing the new quadrangle.

It is always a pleasure to have our work featured in unfamiliar territories. We’re extremely pleased that the Slovak magazine ASB, have published our small project Caviar Café. The project utilises materiality to bring out the best in it’s surrounding greenery of the heritage park.
CC directors have been invited to give a lecture in Phitsanulok on Friday. They will address students at the Faculty of Architecture, Naresuan University. We’ve been preparing materials specifically for this lecture and are very excited to share the practical side to young aspiring architects.

There is a new kid on Sukhumvit. Ramada Plaza at Sukhumvit 48 presents its ordered façade and regimented profile upon the setting Bangkok sun. The tower’s slender silhouette was realised through rigorous planning to achieve such compact footprint.

Our AIA East Gateway project has fulfilled the requirements of precertification under the WELL building standard at the gold level from the International Well Building Institute. The building represents ideas of integrating greenery, energy sufficiency, space flexibility, and health-conscious community’ combined into a workplace well accustomed for turbulent future needs.
Thank you ROOM Books for publishing our Classroom Makeover project in the Design For Our Future issue of Room Magazine this November 2020. It is greatly rewarding to be a part of the project which continues to contribute to our society and kids. The magazine is available in book stores.
CC has set up a beverage workshop with our client to learn and understand the drink-making process and its property before creating space for the client’s new beverage Lab and headquarters office. Our research and workshop are crucial to the design process and will benefit the creation of required space.
Our director, Ekkachan Eiamananwattan, was invited as a guest jury of INDA (International Program in Design and Architecture) Y1, Y2, Y3, Y4 Design Studio Reviews, at Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University. With a thought provocative brief: Destruction/Deterioration/Afterlife the students’ projects were delightfully diverse, with such topics as Aesthetic of Fear, Function in Ugliness, and Artificially Natural, to name a few. A strong start to the year. Best wishes to all the students through the rest of the academic year.
CC director, Ekkachan Eiamannanwattana will join the prestigious panel of renowned architects and previous WAF winners. The process will be in strict accordance with COVID-19 situation and all judging be done via video calls. The online judging will take place on November 17th – 19th, 2020. CC director, Puiphai Khunawat, is invited to be the speaker for EXACT 2 (Executive Architecture Council Training #2) by Architect Council of Thailand. The seminar is to discuss the different roles and ideas from different sectors of the projects and empower women’s roles in the architectural field. The event will be held on November 28th, 2020 at Architect Council of Thailand.
Both directors, Puiphai Khunawat and Ekkachan Eiamananwattana delivered the lecture to the 3rd students at Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University in the topic of Architectural and Environmental Psychology. The lecture aims to share our professional experience to our future architects.

We are delighted that our projects, CC Office and Ahsa Farmstay, won the Design Educates Award 2020. The Awards indicate our dedication to designing architecture and our firm belief in the practice to impact society. Moreover, both projects educate in term of utilising existing; how to reuse abandoned row houses and reinterpret vernacular architecture for new design solutions.
CC directors joined 4th Year Midterm Review panel at Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University along with special guest critic, Prateep Tangmatitham. The founder of Supalai Public Co., Ltd., shared his knowledge and experience from a developer’s perspective to 4th-year students. The students are asked to consider New Normal parameters, in direct response to the current living and working conditions spurred on by the COVID-19 pandemic, within their condominium project proposals. There were inspired and intelligent projects from the hard work and creativity of everyone involved.
CC directors have been interviewed on ALTV4, Thai PBS programme that turns a spotlight on professionals from different fields who are playing their part to challenge the waves of a convention for a brighter future. In this episode, featuring CC on the topic of adaptive reuse by the renovation of historic and abandoned buildings. Meet individuals who are contributing to reviving communities, revitalising structures, and are doing so in a sustainable manner for a better and fuller city. Construction of the CPH project at Den Chai District, Phrae province is well underway. The project is generated to weave the boundary between the building and its landscape that grows and changes by its inherent dynamics. The healing power of nature could be a relief for health issues. Its completion will be a great service to and improve wellness for, the local community.
On September 8th, 2020 – CC directors joined the Demark Award Ceremony to receive awards from Mr Somdet Susomboon, Director-General Department of International Trade Promotion. Our projects Bank of Thailand Learning Center and Ahsa Farmstay has both won the Interior Design Category, claiming 2 of the 5 prizes in the category, from seven design categories.
Bank of Thailand Learning Center and Ahsa Farmstay, both winners in Interior Design Category of Demark Award 2020, will be exhibited in DEmark 2020 Virtual Exhibition. It is an online exhibition embracing the new normal, that would elevate and create new experiences for appreciating the varied winning projects of Demark Award 2020.
CC director, Puiphai Khunawat, is invited to join the distinguished panel of juror for TOY (Thesis of the Year in Architecture Award 2020) from CDAST (Council of Deans of Architecture School of Thailand).
Both directors, Puiphai Khunawat and Ekkachan Eiamananwattana will join the jury panel of the highly coveted Asa Real Estate Awards 2020, hosted by The Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage. This year, the event will become more prestigious than ever, and the organization of the forum will be adjusted to spice up from previous years.
Three of our projects, Creative Crews Office, Bank of Thailand Learning Center, and Ahsa Farmstay, have won in three Category of IAI Design Award: Experimental Architecture, Inheritance and Innovative Architecture, and Community Renovation and Historical Block Protection and Renewal, respectively. The Awards are hosted annually by the APDF (Asia Pacific Designers Federation).
CC Office is the adaptation of two adjoining row houses into a new workplace. Since completion, CC Office has demonstrated its extensive flexibility via an array of uses as a house for architectural design, the chef’s table dinner event, and now a film location of Bad Genius the series. Construction of the main pool at U Samui is well underway. The design extends the pool through the landscape of sand and sea. Its large size is sufficient to provide social distancing between guests as well as allowing all to feel close to the sea.
CC directors have been re-appointed Visiting tutors at Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University for the 2020 semester. They will be teaching design focusing on integrated architectural knowledge critically, for its boundless and progressive quality. Their tutelage remains as rigorous as ever. CC has resumed work at our CC Office. Following preventative measures have been imposed, staff are to be seated at least 2 meters apart, those utilising meeting rooms are requested to keep distances of around 1.5 meters apart, and hand sanitizing alcohol gels are provided on every office floor for our staff and external visitors.
Taking DEmark by storm. This is the first year that Creative Crews is participating in DEmark Awards and Exhibition. We’re delighted to have received such a positive response, having four projects shortlisted!
Projects on the shortlist are, the civic; Bank of Thailand Learning Center, the rural retreat; Ahsa Farmstay, the private pool villas; X2 Oceansphere, and the prestigious; Caviar Café.
Design Excellence Award (DEmark) established in 2008, gives recognition to outstanding product design. The award is in conjunction with the Prime Minister’s Export Award (PM’s Export Award) which is presented annually by the Prime Minister.

In progress, the construction during COVID-19 is still moving forward, albeit with great caution. Limits are placed and no more than 10 workers may work onsite at any given time, under direct supervision from CPH Sakaeo. The hospital became the centre to combat COVID-19 for Ministry of Public Health District 6.
CC is proud to be a part of creating a series of medical centres for 21 provincial hospitals. The Crown Prince Hospital (CPH) project, will create a new environment and elevate public health facilities for people in a more rural district.

On an auspicious day 28th February, CC and AIA were at the groundbreaking ceremony of
AIA East Gateway. The project will be an exemplar of a well-balanced 21st-century workplace.
We are delighted to announce that CC has been engaged to design MICE compound,
condominiums and renovate a hotel on the Southeast Asian island.
The 31,350 sqm hospitality project will improve facilities for guests as well as extend the services
offered to cater to a wider market segment.

CC Directors receive the prestigious award from Nigel Coats, at the World
Architecture Festival in Amsterdam, Netherlands. CC has also been shortlisted for two other
projects in office and hospitality categories.

Eiamananwattana has been invited to join a panel of experts at the World Architecture Festival
2020 taking place in Lisbon, Portugal.
